First Choice Woodworks was founded in 2022 by Adam Machalek, bringing together more than two decades of hands on experience in construction, woodworking, and custom craftsmanship.

Adam's journey in the trades began in his early twenties, working alongside his father in the family construction business. During those years, he developed a broad foundation in residential construction, learning everything from electrical and plumbing to remodeling and finish carpentry. Those experiences instilled a deep appreciation for quality workmanship and the importance of doing every job the right way.

Although Adam eventually pursued a career outside of construction, woodworking remained a constant passion. He spent years refining his skills through home renovations, custom woodworking projects, and furniture building, continually expanding his expertise in finish carpentry and custom craftsmanship.

In 2016, Adam relocated to Florida and joined an experiential marketing company as a Master Builder. There, he led the fabrication and installation of large scale custom builds for nationally recognized events, including the South Beach Food & Wine Festival, New York City Wine & Food Festival, Chicago Gourmet, and numerous other festivals and corporate events across the country. The fast-paced environment demanded precision, creativity, and uncompromising attention to detail qualities that continue to define his work today.

When the live events industry came to a standstill in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Adam and his wife made the decision to return home to Illinois to raise their two children closer to family. That transition created the opportunity to turn a lifelong passion into a business dedicated to serving local homeowners.

Today, First Choice Woodworks operates from Winfield, Illinois, specializing in custom cabinetry, built-ins, finish carpentry, and handcrafted woodworking. Every project is designed with the same philosophy that has guided Adam throughout his career: build it right, build it to last, and treat every client's home with the care and respect it deserves.
